This point-to-point course follows the historic Athens-to-Sparta route on tarmac road, dirt road and mountain footpath, starting below the Acropolis and passing places such as Ancient Corinth, Nemea, Lyrkia and Tegea before finishing at the statue of King Leonidas. Its character changes repeatedly from coastal rolling roads to stony rural sections and the steep night climb and descent over the Sangas Pass on the Artemision range.
