This course follows a full loop of the Nidderdale Way through the Nidderdale area, passing landmarks including Ripley Castle, Brimham Rocks, Scar House Reservoir and How Stean Gorge. It is a long, self-navigated trail ultra on a mainly waymarked route, with substantial time on exposed countryside trails and enough climbing and distance to demand steady pacing and solid preparation. The event is pitched for both first-time ultra runners and experienced long-distance runners, with a classic Yorkshire trail character rather than a heavily marked race.
