This course starts near sea level at Big Creek Campground and climbs steeply to the true summit of Mount Ellinor before returning by a different route. Runners move from shady forest into exposed alpine terrain with expansive views toward Mount Olympus, Mount Rainier, and Mount St. Helens, and the route includes a full vertical-kilometer style upper climb. It is a demanding mountain race with a long history on the Olympic Peninsula and is positioned by the organiser as a skyrunning test of fitness rather than a hike.
One distance, 25 km, up to 1,657 m of climb.
